Instead of doing a full re-sand, we lightly sand and then apply one or two coats of polyurethane oil or stain finishing. This process cannot be done when your original coating has worn through to the bare timber though. If this has happened to your floor, then you will need a full re-sand and re-coat.

Thankfully maintaining your wooden floor’s beauty is less troublesome than cleaning and maintaining carpet or many other floor coverings. It’s a great idea to use a small rug or carpet square just inside the exterior doors, to stop dirt and grit from scratching the surface of your timber coating.
